I admit to being ignorant. I admit to being intentionally ignorant. I was in graduate school before personal computers and video games. I have to admit to being frightened by them as well.
Technology is a double-edged sword at the very least.
Recently, I was in a several day training for a new job. It was all about computers and modern technology and how best to manipulate information coming in from various sources.
There was a young man there who shared that he rarely left his house because he had a computer with all of the gadgets and he didn’t have to interact with people. This is in-fact what he shared and I was stunned !
He went on to tell me that he played on-line, interactive games, in real time with real people ! His favorite was a game called World of Warcraft and that he was looking for a new WOW Leveling Guide.
Yes, I did ask what it was and when I came home, I looked it up. Now I am not as ignorant but wished I was. I do not always see change as a positive thing. All advances have their limitations along with benefits. What could be the benefit of sequestering one’s self from humanity around him ? It’s kind of spooky !
