Fencing Masks for Beginners
As a beginner, when you are purchasing a fencing mask you want to be sure it provides great protection without busting your pocketbook. Before making your purchase be sure the mask meets some basic requirements. First, the mask must have a bib. If you buy second hand equipment be sure that the mask has the bib attached as some are removable. Second, decide how much protection you need to feel comfortable. If you are extremely nervous about having enough protection, you may want to buy a mask that is approved by the FIE as these have higher impact force requirements. However, as a beginner especially, you really only need one that meets USFA regulations.
