Crate training puppies is the simplest form of housebreaking.

Housebreaking used to be a daunting task that no one looked forward to. At one point in time, people would try to housebreak their puppies by rubbing their noses in any accidents they made in the house or smacking them with rolled up newspapers. These were not effective methods of housebreaking. This just scared the puppies, and it often made them afraid of the owners. Crate training puppies is the simplest form of housebreaking. Since a puppy will not go to the bathroom where it sleeps, puppies will not go to the bathroom in the crates. The key is to take puppies out right after they are removed from the crates. This will establish a pattern and a routine.
