What is the Triangle?

When people look move to the Triangle area of North Carolina and hear the term for the first time being used, they often ask, "What is the Triangle?" to which others will typically respond, "Why, you’re living in it!"  The areas of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill North Carolina are often referred to (notoriously) as the Triangle area of North Carolina because of the way in which they would be connected by dots to form a triangular shape.  Also, these towns are located in close proximity to each other (within 20 minute drives each).  Many people end up working in the Research Triangle area, which is located in between Raleigh and Durham.  If you’ve ever sat in traffic in the morning on a weekday betwen 8 and 9 am, then you surely know what I am talking about.  Commuters can often be seen driving to work in the morning (or sitting, rather).
