moisture factor
The major consideration in a basement is always dampness. This is amplified even more when it comes to basement flooring. We found that we had to be sure that we had sealed the floor and walls completely before starting. At first we tried a few throw rugs to give the room some warmth but the discovered that they still seemed to absorb moisture. We finally decided upon a ceramic tile covering for the basement floor. It did not have the warmth we wanted but it was hardy for heavy use and added the color we felt we needed for the room.
