Do Hormones Cause Insomnia?

I have been asked by women going through PMS, "do hormones cause insomnia?"  The answer, I’m afraid, is a resounding yes!  When a woman is in the stages of PMS, her REM sleep is affected.  (REM sleep is related to deep sleep) A sleep expert at the University of California San Francisco by the name of Dr. Kathryn Lee has researched the topic extensively.  She found that when with PMS get no deep sleep at all, and that 67 percent of women in their menstrual cycle having a lot of problems getting sleep at least two or three nights a week
