Women’s Career Choices are More Limited than They Should Be
Women’s career choices are better than they were 40 years ago, but there is still a long way to go. Women are taught specific gender roles from infancy that causes them to avoid certain non traditional career choices, like those in math, sciences, and technology fields.
Today collaboration between schools, government agencies, and associations are helping to develop interest in these fields. These associations promote leadership skills, mother daughter relationships, and role modeling in young women’s lives. Special counseling programs have been put into places which encourage young women by creating individual assessments, and making students aware of their individual aptitudes. In the near future we are sure to see much more development in women’s career choices and we will see women choosing fields that are not very traditional for them.
